The word Microbiology comes from tow words –
Microbes
= micro- organism,
Logos
=knowledge.
It has absence of biology which deals with the study of
different micro-organism.
Division of
microbiology:
The divisions are based on the type of microorganisms. The
common divisions are –
Bacteriology: It is a
branch of microbiology which deals with the study of different Bacteria.
Virology: It is a
branch of microbiology which deals with the study of different Virus.
Mycology: It is a
branch of microbiology which deals with the study of different Fungus.
Parasitology: It is a
branch of microbiology which deals with the study of different Parasites.
What is fungus?
Answer: They are heterotrophic aerobic gram positive
organisms and are generally multicellular. Some of them are pathogenic e.g.
Candida alb cans.
